The return of Peace Kusasira Kanyesigye 63, in the politics of Mukono district has created a new degree of comparison.
Kusasira, previously served as Mukono district woman legislator representing women in the nineth and tenth parliament under the National Resistance Movement.
In 2021, she took a break paving way for Hanipher Nabukeera of National Unity Platform (NUP) sweep to victory against six candidates.
As the battle for winning the party ticket gets closer, candidates have adopted various strategies to create visibility among electorates.
Among the strategies undertaken include making visible donations. Peace Kusasira donated plastic chairs to all district local government units.
Starting from the district to all sub county units, regardless of the party affiliation, all aspirants sit in these chairs with a trademark of peace kusasira.
Besides, on a daily basis, she is able to convene over six community meetings with different groups including women, youths and local council leadership committees.

Beyond meeting, she also donates various materials such as cups, plates, tents and for saving groups cash as a form of empowerment.
In her community appearances, she has promised good representation to the people of Mukono district, lobbying and empowering vulnerable groups.
At the party level, Kusasiira has prepared to face off with Margret Nakavubu, the current party flag bearer.
Nakavubu contested in the recent general elections and terribly lost to Nabukeera. Analysts attributed her loss to trivial party fights and also the people power wave.
In the general elections, Nakavubu garnered 49, 363 votes losing to Nabukeera who reaped 102, 162 votes.
After the battle for the NRM ticket, the winner will again stage a contest against Nabukeera if she happens to retain the NUP party ticket.

She completed primary level at Bugamba boys’ primary school, joined Bweranyangi Girls SS and later St. Mary’s Namagunga for an advanced certificate.
She later joined Makerere University and graduated with Bachelor of Social Work and Social Administration.
In her career served as a personnel administrator at PAPCO in Jinja, Director for women and youths at the National Organization of Trade Unions.
She also served as a Director at Pasip Tribute Junior School.
