Uganda Airlines Signs Deal to Buy 10 Aircraft from Boeing

A landmark agreement between Uganda Airlines and Boeing for the purchase of 10 new aircraft.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has witnessed the signing of a major agreement between Uganda Airlines and Boeing for the acquisition of 10 new aircraft, marking a significant milestone in Uganda’s efforts to expand its aviation capacity and strengthen international connectivity.

The deal, which was formalised during a ceremony attended by the Head of State, involves the addition of both passenger and cargo aircraft to the national carrier’s fleet.

Government officials described the acquisition as a strategic investment aimed at enhancing Uganda’s position in regional and global air transport.

According to officials present at the signing, the fleet expansion is expected to improve the country’s trade logistics, boost tourism inflows, and attract increased foreign investment by offering more efficient and reliable air transport links.

The new aircraft are also anticipated to support Uganda Airlines’ growing network, particularly on key regional and intercontinental routes, as the government continues to push its broader agenda of positioning Uganda as a regional aviation hub.

President Museveni has in recent years consistently backed efforts to revive and expand the national carrier, framing aviation development as a critical pillar in economic transformation and regional integration.

The implementation timeline for the aircraft deliveries has not yet been fully disclosed, but officials indicated that the rollout will be phased in line with the airline’s expansion strategy and operational readiness.
