WAKISO. The new President of Rotary Club of Nsangi Dr Grace Stephen Sseruyange has promised to prioritise health and issues affecting persons with disabilities (PWDs) during his one-year term of office.
“I am a medic and I know what our local people go through, we need to help them,” he said while officially being installed as President of Rotary Club of Nsangi in Maya, Wakiso District on Sunday.
He replaced Rotarian David Kato Ssamba. Established in 1905, Rotary is a global organisation of philanthropists who unite to take action and create change across the world.
Rotary activities globally include among others, fighting diseases, saving mothers and children, providing clean water, sanitation, and hygiene, supporting education and protecting the environment.
He said he is going to use his wide network both locally and internationally to mobilise funds to improve the health well-being of Ugandans during his tenure .
“I have a wider network of people with good hearts in the UK, Germany and US who will support our projects to cause positive change in our communities,” he pledged
Dr Sseruyanga , who is also the director of International Paramedical & Nursing Institute (IPI) –Maya, said his first assignment is going to be completing a maternity ward at Nsangi Health Centre III.
The Former District Governor-DG9214, Rtn Peace Taremwa urged all past presidents of the club to support Dr Sseruyanga so that he delivers on his mandate.
“Dr Sseruyanga has exhibited strong leadership credentials in the businesses and organisations he leads, and the club is going to greatly benefit from him, but he needs advice from past presidents, let them advise him behind the curtain and that will be good and helpful advice,” he said
At the same function, David Kyewalabye Male, also handed over office to Enid Asingwire as assistant governor. Yusuf Kigoye was recognized as the Rotarian of the year.
The Rotary Club of Nsangi was Chartered on April 22,2016. The Club currently boasts of Thirty-one (31) members of varied and diverse professions including, but not limited to medical doctors, lawyers, teachers, engineers, accountants, auditors, bankers, businessmen and women, entrepreneurs, tax consultants and ICT specialists.
