Several road users in Mukono Central Division are bothered by the increasing cases of robberies conducted by groups of bodaboda operators during the evening hours on Mulyanti road.
Mulyanti road starts from Mukono-Bugerere road at Total village stretching through Agip Cell connecting to Kampala-Jinja highway at Ssaza Cell.
Resident connecting to various destinations using the road claim being terrorized by men on motorcycles who steal their valuables such as phones, bags, on the move.
The Agip LCI Chairperson Elly Nkalubo confirms that several people especially pedestrians are most targeted but also those traveling on bodabodas.
His office receives about many cases of robbery done on the road yet others are reported directly to security offices and others go unreported.
Nkalubo notes that several victims have sustained injuries especially when they try to resist snatching of their properties. He reveals reporting the matter to police and seeking recurrent patrolling of the road but nothing has been done yet.
Mulyanti is one of the most silent roads within Mukono Municipality. It rarely attracts traffic jam during day and night.
The most dangerously mentioned spot is between the stretch of the two long fences of Mukono Boarding Primary school and YMCA branch located at the opposite sides.
Other commonly done businesses along the road are mechanic works for which garage and lockup owners close their spare part stores early enough to beat curfew time.
Dalton Yiga Matovu, a reporter with Simba FM in Mukono on Tuesday night was attacked on the same road by men putting on face masks using two different motorcycles, surrounded him off before taking his bag containing a camera, recorder and a lap top.
He reported the matter to Mukono Police Division were one of the motorcycles he claims to attack him was captured on police closed circuit television camera but its number could not be recognized since the number plate was folded.
Ruth Kabugo a resident at Agip Cell is recovering from the bruises she sustained on the right hand trying to fight for her bag grabbed from her on her way to home.
Mukono Resident District Commissioner Fatumah Ndisaba also acknowledges receiving various complaints at her office. She also reveals that there is also a team of teenagers conducting related crimes on the same road she has instructed police to apprehend.
