Kyaggwe Ssaza management on Wednesday officially named David Mutono Katono as their football team head coach for the upcoming 2024 season.
Katono takes over from William Kyeswa who handled the team last season.
Katono brings experience to Kyaggwe from the Uganda premier league where he has managed teams such as Gadaffi FC, and Kyetume FC.
The former Buganda Province head coach also had spells with Misindye, Soana (now Tooro United), and Seeta United.
Katono told the media that his main task will be helping Kyaggwe compete and also win the trophy.
Kyaggwe is among the counties that have never tested the joy of playing Masaza Cup finals.
However, the team chairperson who doubles as Lugazi Municipality Member of Parliament, Stephen Sserubula has confidence that the new manager will take them to a higher level.
Mutono has always been referred to as “Mr Fix It”, often deployed in trying times.
Vincent Matovu, the Kyaggwe County chief asked the team management to be transparent especially when handling money, paying players on time, and also avoid bribing other teams.
