Ivan Serrano Hernandez also from Spain finished third position in the time of   57 minutes, 59 seconds.

Kiplimo says, he is over impressed with Joy for the spectacular performance exhibited in Barcelona. “It wasn’t easy but with the courage and the training I underwent back home in Kapchorwa, I was able to deliver this big achievement.” Said Kiplimo.

Kiplimo’s record-breaking performance also earned him to become the first man ever to run a half, Marathon under 57 minutes.

Kiplimo surpassed the previous world record of 57 minutes and 30 seconds, held by Ethiopia’s Yomive Kajacha.

Peter Chelangat, Kiplimo’s Local coach says, they will now shift their focus to London Marathon. “We also look forward to register success in London just as we did today in Barcelona” Says Chelangat
