The former personnel manager at the Uganda Airlines, Maria Theresa Kabasomi Amooti was on Wednesday April 16, 2025, laid to rest at Nkuke Village in Buwunga Sub County, Masaka District.
Kabasomi served at the Uganda Airlines for twelve years after serving as the at Produce Marketing Board for ten years.
She shaped countless careers and was a guiding light for many who came under her mentorship.
At the time of her passing, she had become the driving force behind Kamaama Estates, managing it with vision, grace and a sense of responsibility.

Kabasomi was born in 1942, in Myeri village in Kabarole District nestled within the verdant hills of the Toro Kingdom.
She was a cherished daughter to Chief David Kabona Adyeri of the Bamwooli clan. She was the great granddaughter of Nyakamatura, the revered ruler and chief of Bugahya County in Bunyoro- Kitara Kingdom between 1898 and 1912.
During the Funeral Mass led by Masaka Diocesan Bishop, Rt. Rev. Severus Jjumba, Kabasomi was praised for grooming many into responsible citizens, transforming the economy of Nkuke village and Narozaali parish.
“The family chose to support Narozaali Parish with an annual contribution of shillings 3million. We are so grateful for the gift of the late Maria Theresa Amooti for raising impactful people for the country and the Church,” Bishop Jjumba noted.
Her burial was attended by many dignitaries from different corners of the world. The Second Deputy Katikkiro who also doubles as the Minister for Finance in Buganda Kingdom, Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa on behalf of the Katikiro, Charles Peter Mayiga, applauded the Late Amooti for her legacy especially in raising disciplined child, Fred Luzinda Mukasa, the board member of ‘Emmwaanyi Terimba Ltd’ and proprietor of Kamaama Farm Estates.
Other influential people who attended the burial included the Deputy Chief Justice Designate, Flavian Nzeija, Uganda’s Ambassador to Algeria, John Chrysostom Alintuma Nsambu, Business Moguls led by the Francis Kitaka Family and Kwewayo Family, Pookino Jude Muleke, legislators and Local government leaders led by Masaka City Mayor Florence Namayanja and emeritus politician Gerald Ssendawula.
Ambassador Nsambu praised the Late Kabasomi for serving as an example to many families in the area when it comes to grooming and shaping children.

He also commended her for establishing an important model farm which transformed Nkuku into a special village with in Masaka District.
The Narozaali Parish Priest Rev. Fr. John Vianney Tamale also praised the late Maria Theresa Amooti and the family for their contribution towards building Narozaali Parish.
“This family donated land where Narozaari sub parish is seated and they have continuously helped us in renovation the Parish buildings. She raised children and supported them with necessary education. She has been an innovative person through her actions and influence.” Fr. Tamale said.

Her son, Fred Luzinda, also a member of the G10, praised the Late Chief Mother as always prescribed by the family for raising many with Love and honor.
“She was a very strict and lovely mother who made us what we are today. She became a friend to literally everybody. She took me to Namilyango one of the top-notch schools in Uganda and many other colleges & Universities, she made me what the world can now see,” Luzinda said.
