Our eagle-eyed snoop on Thursday,15th Dec 2023 in one of the hotels around town landed on a group of three disgruntled officers with a seemingly touching story.
The annoyance was all over their faces. Their story rotated around the recently concluded transfers of senior police officers.
They were crying foul of one MWESIGWA IGNITIOUS, the vetting officer. One officer seemed to know him. The other two didn’t. He described him as a brown man with a bald head.
Accordingly, Mwesigwa is the alfa and omega, it doesn’t matter whether you are professional, workaholic, or disciplined.
Whether your immediate supervisor(s) recommended you or not, as long as you did not put anything on his table, then you were either slapped with a malicious report or a disguised report which would ultimately be fed to the unsuspecting police placement committee.
One officer advised that they should access the IGP through the PRO since he is a close friend, the other tall dark-skinned officer interjected.
“My brother, this is police, you may end up a victim of circumstance, don’t be surprised when they say that is subversive”.
They were however happy that some top management officials had gotten an ear of the same.
“Let us wait and see the decision taken”, the evidence is in the air, some money was sent directly on his lines. When he was not comfortable with you, he would text you on WhatsApp a private number where you would deposit the money.
Mwesigwa allegedly targeted officers selected for promotional transfers like from OC station to DPC and those getting transferred from upcountry stations to big police stations in Kampala.
Our snoop felt touched after one of the officers who appeared to be a direct victim failed to eat the food he had ordered for.
“At times it’s hard to believe that this is an institution we have entrusted our career with, that your sacrifice is not valued to the extent that the decision of your immediate supervisor is a washout, that your career is in the hands of someone who sits behind a computer and makes a recommendation basing on the mobile money messages received, it’s so sad”, he said.
Our snoop opted to quit after a prolonged sipping of juice since the trio began to doubt the neighboring company.
