KAYUNGA. The National Resistance Movement-NRM’s party stalwart member, Moses Karangwa’s planned Shillings 1billion wedding has excited locals in Kayunga District, and now the only talk of the area.

Many residents are now referring to it as the “wedding of the year”. Karangwa’s wedding which has united the hitherto divided locals in the district along political lines is slated for December 10 in Kayunga.

Karangwa, also the district NRM chairperson will tie the knot with his twenty seven year old friend and also the mother of seven children, Florence Kirabo.

According to Eleneo Lubega, the chairperson of the wedding organizing committee, Rt. Rev. Christopher Kakooza, the Bishop of Lugazi Diocese will wed the couple at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Kayunga Town.

Besides being a fearless politician for NRM, Karangwa is also a prominent Jinja-based businessman. He also owns cattle farms in Kayunga, Kamuli, Mubende and Luweero districts.

He revealed during his recent wedding fundraising meeting for inviting 8,000 guests and President Yoweri Museveni expected to be the chief guest.

“We expect about 10,000 people to attend the reception to be held at Ntenjeru football grounds at the district headquarters. We would have had the reception in any hotel but we decided to put it in a football pitch because we expect a big turn up,”Karangwa said excitedly.

According to Karangwa, funds to be spent on the wedding is raised by friends including the president and other big shots in government like the Prime Minister Robina Nabbanja, Gen. Salim Saleh, Rt. Hon Anita Among, UPDF generals, and members of parliament.

The couple plans to fly by helicopter from Jinja where they stay to Kayunga and then proceed to the church.

“People are going to eat and drink. We have already received 24 cows to slaughter on that day and more are expected. We have booked beer for our people to drink for two days and those who don’t drink would be served with milk,” Karangwa said.

The decorators for the reception venue jetted in the country yesterday from Turkey to examine the site and then fly back after establishing the magnitude of work they are supposed to undertake.

Karangwa said he took the decision to get holy matrimonial because her daughters were about to wed in church and him not being married in church would be a bad example to them.

“I am a devoted catholic and getting holy matrimonial has been something I wanted to fulfill,” Karangwa said.
END.
