President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has congratulated Mr Don Vincent Bwana, Head of Protocol at the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Secretariat, and his wife, Beatrice Ayinkamiye, on their marriage, urging them to build a strong family founded on love, mutual respect, trust and shared responsibility.
The President’s message was delivered by the Minister for the Presidency and Budiope West Member of Parliament, Milly Babirye Babalanda, who represented him at the couple’s wedding ceremony held on Friday, October 30, 2026.
On behalf of President Museveni, the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Kataaha Museveni, the Permanent Secretary in the Office of the President, Hajji Yunus Kakande, and staff of the Office of the President, Babalanda conveyed warm greetings and heartfelt congratulations to the newlyweds.
In his message, President Museveni thanked the couple for inviting him to share in their special occasion, affectionately referring to them as his bazzukulu (grandchildren). He commended them for making the decision to enter into holy matrimony while still young and energetic, describing marriage as an important milestone that reflects maturity, focus and readiness to embrace responsibility.
The President said marriage is among the aspirations parents have for their children, expressing confidence that the couple would honour their commitment and build a lasting union.
“This is a sign of focus and readiness to take up responsibility, which is a yearning of parents for their children. The choice you have made is between you and God, and before all of us. We believe that you will make it work and that it will yield fruits in the years to come,” President Museveni said.
He emphasised that a successful marriage requires commitment, trust, understanding and shared responsibility, urging the couple to support one another as they establish their home and raise responsible children who will contribute positively to the country’s future.
He also encouraged them to uphold the values instilled in them by their families, education and the institutions that have shaped their lives, expressing confidence that they would become responsible and exemplary members of society.
The President particularly commended Bwana for his contribution to national development through his service at the NRM Secretariat, where he serves as Head of Protocol.
He applauded his hard work, loyalty, diligence and patriotism, expressing appreciation for his dedication to the country and confidence that he would continue serving with commitment while achieving greater success in the years ahead.
President Museveni further observed that having a supportive partner was important in building a successful marriage, noting that the couple’s union should provide a strong foundation for their personal, professional and family development, especially as both serve in government institutions.
“Since you have now got a pillar of support as your wife, and since both of you are serving in government offices, I trust that this union will help you excel to greater heights in life, nurture responsible children of this nation and become an example to other people, especially the youth,” he said.
He urged the newlyweds to balance their public service responsibilities with their family aspirations while remaining committed to building a prosperous future.
The President also challenged them to embrace and promote the NRM’s message of hard work and the principle of “No More Sleep” in their respective communities.
He reminded them that, as members and ambassadors of the Movement, their conduct, commitment and achievements should inspire others, particularly young people, to embrace productive work, personal responsibility and wealth creation as part of the broader national effort to eradicate household poverty.
President Museveni also paid tribute to the parents of the newlyweds for their guidance, sacrifices and contribution towards raising them into responsible adults.
In particular, he remembered the late Bwana Yeko, whom he described as his friend, acknowledging the parental guidance and values that had helped prepare the family for the important occasion.
As a special gesture of support towards the couple’s marriage, President Museveni contributed cows worth UGX 10 million.
He concluded his message by praying for God’s blessings upon the marriage, asking the Almighty to guide the couple as they embark on their new journey, establish their home and pursue their shared aspirations.
“May God bless your marriage,” he wished them.
Meanwhile, Babalanda also congratulated Bwana and his wife, wishing them a lifetime of love, companionship, mutual respect and God’s abundant blessings.
She urged the couple to cherish one another, remain committed to their marriage and build a home founded on faith, understanding, responsibility and shared purpose.
Drawing inspiration from Proverbs 18:22, which states, “He who finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favour from the Lord,” Babalanda prayed that God would strengthen their bond, guide their decisions and bless their home with lasting peace, happiness and prosperity.
She also wished them success in their respective professional responsibilities and family life.
The wedding ceremony attracted several dignitaries, religious leaders, government officials, NRM leaders, relatives and friends.
Among those in attendance were Pastor Robert Kayanja, Ambassador Barbara Nekesa, the NRM Treasurer, Hon. Naigaga, Hon. Kawalya, East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) representative Veronica Kadogo, former Arua Member of Parliament Gabriel, Jackson Ntwatwa, Dr Rosemary Sseninde and National Female Workers Member of Parliament Phiona Nakku.
