A Trinity Express bus narrowly escaped tragedy on Thursday after colliding with a Uganda Railway passenger train at a crossing point in Namumira, Mukono District.
The bus, registration number RAH 629B, traveling from Nairobi to Kampala, failed to stop at the railway crossing and was struck on the rear side by the oncoming train, operated by Munyarurembo Henry.
According to police, the bus was being driven by Bulya Erat, who escaped unhurt along with all passengers on board. No injuries or fatalities were reported.

Police officers swiftly arrived at the scene, took statements from witnesses, and launched an investigation into the cause of the accident. The bus, the train, and their operators were later moved to Uganda Railways offices in Kyetume as inquiries continue.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SSP Patrick Onyango confirmed the accident and urged motorists to exercise maximum caution when approaching railway crossings.
“This incident is a reminder of the dangers of overspeeding and failing to observe traffic regulations at crossing points. Drivers must always stop and ensure it is safe before proceeding,” Onyango said in a statement.
Authorities emphasized that while no lives were lost in this case, failure to adhere to road and railway safety rules could easily result in serious consequences.
