A total of eighteen candidates have been duly nominated to contest for parliamentary seats in Masaka District ahead of the 2026 general elections. The positions include Members of Parliament for Bukoto Central, Bukoto East, and the District Woman Representative.
In Bukoto Central Constituency, those nominated are Richard Sebamala (DP), Alex Kalinzi (Independent), Majeran Kazibwe (Independent), Andrew Lukyamuzi Batemyetto (DF), Godfrey Mayanja (NRM), Jimmy Kaweesi (Independent), Jamiru Kivumbi (NUP), and George Talemwa (Independent).
The Bukoto East Constituency race has attracted eight contenders — Evans Kanyike (NUP), Sarah Babirye Kityo (NRM), Christopher Matovu (Independent), Zahara Nalubyayi (DF), James Semaganda (DP), Frank Bugembe (Independent), and Kizito Nsubuga (Independent).
Meanwhile, three candidates have been nominated for the Masaka District Woman MP seat: Mary Babirye Kabanda (DP), Joanita Nalule (NRM), and Joan Namutaawe (NUP).
The nominations set the stage for a competitive campaign season in Masaka District as candidates from various political backgrounds prepare to seek voter support.
