The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda Dr. Samuel Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu has asked parents to advocate for the boy child to build stable communities.
Dr. Kaziimba also the Chancellor of UCU was presiding over the 25th graduation ceremony at the University’s main campus at Mukono on Friday, where 1,165 students graduated in various disciplines.
According to Kaziimba, most gender-based violence cases are a result of poor grooming and paying less attention to the boy child.
“Give attention to the boy child as well to produce well-moulded husbands for our girls in the future. It doesn’t sound right to give attention to only girls and after all the energy spent, they go meet the poorly brought up husbands.” Dr. Kaziimba noted.
He appealed to the graduates to serve with humility and also be good ambassadors of the University.
The University Council Chairperson, Dr. Alfred Olwa asked graduates to have trust in God in whatever they do, lead and serve with integrity and humility as they seek employment opportunities.
The Chief Guest Graham Yoko, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Accelerated Education Enterprise (AEE) appealed to graduates to reflect on the specific roles God has designed for them to do in various communities.
“We are living under the error of increased knowledge because of technology, to fit into spaces, you have to continue learning, unlearn and relearn, bearing in mind that your purpose in life is not only to be a carrier but also to love and serve others,” Yoko noted.
UCU officially launched a working partnership with Accelerated Education Enterprise (AEE) aimed at developing further the Accelerated Christian Education Curriculum in the country.
UCU embarked on developing a degree program for teachers who instruct learners using the ACE framework.
The curriculum is set to be submitted to the National Council for Higher Education for approval by December and the first admission is expected in September next year.
