A politician can find an excuse to get out of anything, except office, a funny saying that ensembles tricks played by Stephen Sserubula to retain loyalty at the party secretariat.
The National Unity Platform Member of Parliament representing Lugazi Municipality has some trust in the sense of reality hidden behind the motion to censure the four parliamentary commissioners over the controversial service award of Shillings 1.7 billion.
However, Sserubula does not completely believe in the censure motion’s intentions, but to safeguard his face before the party secretariat, he at least escorted the Leader of Opposition in Parliament Joel Ssenyonyi to attach his signature.
The legislator positioned himself before the camera to make the public contemplate that on the same day, he also attached his signature, it turned out that the legislator dodged the signing session.
On Thursday, party leaders and members of the NUP Mukono chapter threatened to declare all legislators within Greater Mukono who have declined to append signatures to the motion as immaterial to the party.
Despite all this, Sserubula insisted that the exact intentions of the motion were unclear to him. He did not differ from Fred Ssimbwa, the Nakifuma County MP who believes the motion was initiated out of bad intentions.
Nonetheless, threats from foot soldiers to declare the legislators immaterial gave a sleepless night to Betty Nambooze of Mukono Municipality, immediately Theodore Ssekikubo who was collecting the signatures reached his desk, Nambooze was among the early birds on Friday to append the signature.
