President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has hailed Suzan Wamala, the head teacher of Mukono Boarding Primary School, for her steadfast commitment to academic excellence and high educational standards at the institution.

The president made the remarks during his recent tour of Greater Mukono, part of a broader leadership engagement initiative across the country.

The praise came after Godfrey Kiwanda Ssuubi, the Deputy National Resistance Movement (NRM) Chairman for the Buganda Region, introduced Wamala to the president.

Kiwanda thanked her for accepting to host the leadership meeting and recognized her outstanding role in education management.

Mukono Boarding Primary School is among Uganda’s top-performing public primary schools, consistently ranking in the top three nationwide for academic performance.

The school, known for its discipline, structured environment, and high enrollment, has become a model for public education institutions.

President Museveni commended the school’s neat environment and the disciplined demeanor of both staff and pupils, describing the campus as serene and conducive to learning.

He then held a private discussion with Wamala that lasted nearly ten minutes.

While the details of their conversation were not disclosed, Museveni appeared satisfied and instructed State House Comptroller Jane Barekye to formally take Wamala’s details.

Speaking to reporters after the engagement, Wamala described the meeting with the president as “short but fruitful,” though she did not reveal the specifics of their conversation.

Suzan Wamala is an experienced educationist and administrator who has served as head teacher of Mukono Boarding Primary School for over a decade.

Under her leadership, the school has consistently achieved top national results in the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE), attracting learners from across the country.

Wamala holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Makerere University and has attended several professional development courses both locally and abroad.

She is known for her hands-on leadership style, emphasis on academic discipline, and a strong focus on character development among learners.

Her dedication to public service and education has earned her accolades from various stakeholders, including the Ministry of Education and local government authorities.

She has also spearheaded initiatives to improve the school’s infrastructure, sanitation, and integration of ICT in teaching.

She is currently the chairperson of Municipal teachers’ association and President Mukono Diocese Primary Headteacher’s Association.

The recognition by the president adds to her growing reputation as one of Uganda’s most respected public-school administrators.
