Dr. Stella Nyanzi, a well-known Ugandan activist, has announced that she has broken up with her boyfriend, David Musiri, after being together for eight years.
Nyanzi shared the news on her Facebook page on Saturday.
Despite being a mother of twins and an older daughter, she faced deep heartache and locked herself inside her house after the breakup.
“My daughter, Baraka Bah, gently encouraged me to leave the house and join her on a bus ride around our part of the city,” she wrote.
“The boys stayed home cleaning, cooking, and doing their school homework,” she added.
She also mentioned that nursing a broken heart is a bit easier when her children are also going through similar emotions. “They are my healers during this time,” she added.
While she hasn’t shared the reasons for the breakup, some online commenters suggest it might be linked to her recent close relationship with the father of her children.
This marks her second long-term relationship since separating from her children’s father.
Musiri is the head of academic institutions at the National Unity Platform.
