Police at Mukono have clashed with distributors of Primary Leaving Examination over safe transportation of examination papers.

Most of the distributors observed by this website are Mukono Municipality workers who preferred moving on bodabodas alone without security personnel apprehensive of Ebola.

However, police led by Sergeant David Alochi, the Mukono division head of deployments restricted them from leaving the station alone saying examinations would not be safe.

He also questioned the use of different motorcycles saying one can get lost from each other while traversing through the heavy traffic jam.

The disagreement lasted for about twenty minutes despite the late distribution caused by the late arrival of the Municipal Inspector, Olivia Bulya which has affected the start of exams especially in Goma division.

Most of the distributors left Mukono police station at around 8:55am to start battling the heavy traffic jam along Kampala-Jinja Highway and then connect to schools located in distant areas from the town center. The journey would require an extra 30 minutes to complete.

According to Uganda National Examination Board, PLE exams are supposed to start at exactly 9 am.

Sargent Alochi has insisted that distributors traveling with police officers each is a requirement to protect them against any temptation of malpractices which usually happen during the distribution process.

The Municipality Schools Inspector, Bulya managed to convince distributors to travel with police officers on the same motorcycles to save learners from writing their papers late.

Meanwhile, distributors for examination papers for schools within the district local government setting managed to travel on time. They embarked on the process of distributing papers at exactly 7am.

Rashid Kikomeko, the District Education Officer says all schools managed to receive their papers before 9am.

A total of 832, 810 candidates are expected to sit this year’s PLE from 14, 153 examination centers.
