Justice Musa Ssekaana of the Court of Appeal has been named Chairperson of the Bar Course Advisory Board at the Law Development Centre (LDC).
The appointment, formalized in a letter dated March 17, 2026, comes after approval by the LDC Management Committee during its 132nd meeting.
LDC Director, Dr. Pamela Tibihikirra-Kalyegira, praised Justice Ssekaana’s longstanding contributions to the legal profession in the official correspondence.
“Following the Management Committee’s deliberations, your exceptional service to the legal field has earned recognition, and we are pleased to appoint you as Chairperson of the Bar Course Advisory Board,” Dr. Tibihikirra-Kalyegira stated in the letter.
The appointment is in accordance with the LDC’s Standing Orders, which empower the Director to make such designations. Justice Ssekaana will oversee the Advisory Board, tasked with maintaining the academic integrity of the Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice, commonly known as the Bar Course.
His responsibilities include reviewing and approving teaching materials and guiding the Board in shaping the course’s curriculum.
The tenure of the new role spans two years, from July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2028. Justice Ssekaana will also receive allowances as outlined under the LDC Standing Orders and Financial Regulations.
The Director has requested a formal written acceptance from Justice Ssekaana, while expressing confidence in the positive impact of his leadership.
