The Kololo Independence Grounds have come alive as thousands of delegates converge for the four-day National Resistance Movement (NRM) Delegates’ Conference.
The highly anticipated event is drawing more than 1,500 party leaders, among them district chairpersons, Members of Parliament, party flagbearers, and other key figures expected to take part in the deliberations.
The conference opens with elections for leaders of special interest groups, including youth, the elderly, veterans, women, persons with disabilities, workers, and industrialists. Voting is scheduled to begin at any time.
NRM Electoral Commission chairperson, Dr. Tanga Odoi, said each committee will elect 10 members. From these, representatives will later be selected to Parliament in positions such as youth MPs (male and female), elderly representatives, MPs for persons with disabilities, and workers’ representatives.
