Uganda is mourning the passing of Cedric Babu Ndilima, a respected public figure whose impact was felt across both the media and political landscapes.
His death follows a widely supported national campaign to raise funds for life-saving heart surgery.
Although the efforts were immense and heartfelt, Cedric passed on, leaving the country in grief.
Until his final days, Cedric served as the Coordinator for the Kampala Metropolitan Area under the Patriotic League of Uganda, a movement led by General Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
In this role, Cedric played a critical part in shaping political mobilization and civic engagement across the capital and surrounding districts.
He was deeply committed to strengthening grassroots structures, promoting youth participation, and building a more unified and empowered society.
Cedric was widely respected within the Patriotic League of Uganda.
His leadership was marked by clarity, discipline, and an unwavering belief in national transformation.
Before entering national coordination, Cedric was already a well-known media personality.
He gained national prominence as the host of The Cedric Live Show on Uganda Broadcasting Corporation.
His show brought energy and thoughtful discourse to Ugandan screens.
In a tribute posted on its official X handle, UBC wrote:
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Cedric Babu Ndilima, a former colleague and valued member of the UBC family. Through The Cedric Live Show, he brought insight and vibrance to our screens. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones.”
His illness and the fundraising campaign that followed captured the attention of the nation.
Ugandans from every region responded with compassion. Colleagues, friends, political allies, and members of the public all came together in the hope of securing his treatment.
The response reflected how deeply Cedric was admired across both professional and personal circles.
Although the treatment could not be carried out in time, Cedric’s final chapter was marked by the very unity and solidarity he spent his life promoting.
Uganda has lost a leader, a communicator, and a patriot. But the spirit of Cedric Babu Ndilima endures.
His legacy will continue to inspire new generations who believe in service, unity, and the power of speaking up for what matters.
