Kampala, Uganda

Starting the 4th to 6th of September 2023, the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) will host the eagerly anticipated African Summit 2023, uniting delegates from across Africa and beyond. This event’s core focus is “Driving Green Growth & Climate Finance Solutions for Africa and the World.”

The challenge at hand involves not just envisioning this green growth but also securing the requisite financial mechanisms and investments to translate this vision into reality.

As delegates prepare for intensive discussions, a central question looms: How can Africa foster a model of growth that is simultaneously environmentally sustainable, financially viable, and beneficial on a global scale?

QUESTIONS

To ensure success, the summit must address all aspects of the environment in the East African community and Africa. It is, however, essential to consider a wide range of questions and concerns. Here are 50 key questions and topics that should be explored objectively:

1.    How can East African countries enhance regional collaboration to combat climate change?

2.    What are the most pressing climate-related challenges facing East African nations?

3.    How can renewable energy adoption be accelerated across Africa?

4.    What measures can be taken to promote sustainable agriculture and food security in the region?

5.    What innovative approaches can address water scarcity in East Africa?

6.    How can the conservation of biodiversity be integrated into climate action plans?

7.    What role can indigenous knowledge play in climate adaptation strategies?

8.    How can African nations strengthen their resilience to extreme weather events?

19.     What are the potential impacts of climate-induced migration on the region?

20.     How can climate-smart technology be made accessible to rural communities?

21.     What is the role of African traditional and religious leaders in climate advocacy?

22.     How can climate education and awareness campaigns be improved?

                               Gabon Situation

Regarding the Gabon coup and its potential impact on climate matters, it’s important to assess the following objectively:

1.    How the political instability in Gabon might affect the country’s ability to meet its climate commitments.

2.    Whether the coup could disrupt ongoing conservation efforts and anti-deforestation initiatives in Gabon.

3.    If the coup changes Gabon’s stance on international climate agreements and cooperation.

4.    The implications for regional stability and cooperation on climate issues in Central Africa.

5.    How international climate organizations and partners should engage with the new government in Gabon to ensure continued progress in climate action.

6.    Addressing these questions and concerns objectively will contribute to a more comprehensive and successful Africa Climate Summit in Nairobi, focusing on the diverse environmental challenges faced by the East African community and the continent.
