Rotarian Rosette Nabbumba Nayenga, the first female district governor in Uganda urges women in positions of power to mentor and support other women proper their careers.
Rotarian Nabbumba, who also serves as the Board Chairperson of Rotary Fellowship for Empowering Women, an initiative supporting women discover their full potential to take on different responsibilities and usurping leadership positions says much is still needed especially in rural areas.
She noted during the annual meet and greet session aimed at sharing different opportunities and challenges amidst women and finding possible solutions to challenges as they surface.
She believes this will elevate more women to influences and also gain more authority within the communities.
“Efforts have been put up at both national and international levels to elevate women status in the country, but in different spheres, women are still considered a weak gender thus the need to increase on women support especially during the post lockdown period where many lost jobs and are emotionally down.” Rotarian Nabbumba says.
Catherine Barasa Asekenya, the Rotary Chairperson for Major Gifts expresses dismay for women used by men to fight fellow women in different organizations saying this frustrates their efforts for attaining higher positions.
