Nambooze education drive attracts 1200 vulnerable school going children

More than 1200 students from the six sub counties and three town councils in Mpigi will get free, subsidized education from some of the great schools in the country.
This is part of Mpigi District Woman MP, Teddy Nambooze’s drive to foster thus full learning to the people within the district.
The drive which started last year saw the MP register pupils and students to attend primary, secondary and tertiary education.
The Secondary going students will now attend schools such as Kibibi Moslem – Butambala, Sumayiya Girls in Nsangi, Katende Congress, Kyanja High, Namungoona High, Butooro SS, St Francis – Kankobe, Holy Trinity, Nkozi, St Charles Bujuuko, St James – Buddo, among others.
Several of the primary going school children will now attend Peace Modern School in Kayabwe, First Lady Primary school, Blessed Hope Primary School Nabusanke, among others.
Several other students will attend tertiary education to inspire and instill practical skills to further self employment in Mpigi District.
The office of the Woman Member of Parliament partnered with all the schools, offering bursaries to the students. The MP will pay both with cash and in kind, offering services to the schools too.
Some of the students yet to attend schools on such arrangement included several disabled  neglected and orphans.
“Our target is to foresee a better district in future with people knowledgeable enough to run the affairs of Mpigi. The Busaries will move along with improving the wellbeing of the people in the area,” says Teddy Nambooze, the Woman MP, also project initiator.
On Saturday, the Member of Parliament (Teddy Nambooze) winded up the registration exercise at her office in Mpigi town.
The MP invited several of the church and moral leaders to offer career guidance and prayers to the students.
Amongst them were Rev. Fr John Paul Ssemaganda from Mpigi Parish, James Kigoonya, a Lay leader at Besaany Mpigi, Imam Rahman Nsubuga of the Mpigi Moslem District, Harriet Nakwedde from Kayunga, Hon Grace Nalubega from Rakai District and Ms Betty Ssentamu from Gomba.
The Education officer at the Mawokota County under the Kingdom of Buganda too offered career guidance.
The free and subsidized education system will according to Teddy Nambooze be, the signature project for the people of Mpigi for the next five years as she serves as Member of Parliament.
“I will also handle the rest of the projects as I also make strides to educate our children,” Nambooze says.
