The Kayunga District National Resistance Movement-NRM party Chairperson, Moses Kalangwa is on the spot over accusations of maliciously acquiring a plot of land at Jinja.
The land Kalangwa claims belongs to Spire road primary school measuring about 100 by 50ft, allocated to the Rotary Club of Jinja with the aim of expanding the department of visually impaired pupil at the school.
Kalangwa is claiming ownership of the same land which has left the school head teacher, Florence Namukose puzzled on how he acquired it.
“I am aware of Rotary Club’s plans to expand our school for the blind but I have been treated with shock after Kalangwa came out to claim ownership of the same land,” Namusoke says.
Margret Nampiina, the former Jinja Rotary Club president reveals that they partnered with Jinja Municipal Council-JMC to construct another classroom block for the visually impaired pupils.
She however notes that it is absurd that Kalangwa is coming out to harass them with an intent of frustrating their plans.
Kalangwa insists leasing the land from Jinja Municipal council and cannot allow other people to develop it under his watch.
The Jinja City Mayor, Majid Batambuze, says the school land was titled in 2018 though they received Kalangwa’s complaints of acquiring the same land which they will review.
