Doreen Ouchoro, a resident at Namyoya in Goma Division Mukono Municipality was denied access to all her properties and children by husband Denis Ouchoro upon return from Canada before she decided to pitch camp outside her house for five days.
The woman claims building a house through loans she acquired from various banks and also started an events company of ‘Extreme music and events’ before she decided traveling to Canada targeting to get more money to boost the events company.
However, upon her return, the husband who did not support her idea of traveling denied her access to home at the same time contacting children. The woman has spent four years in Canada.
The two got married after their graduation from Kyambogo university and gave birth to four children. Doreen claims that the husband never got a job but to stay at home taking care of the children.
“He has started playing tricks to take all my properties, he secured a lawyer who has approached me with paper to sign changing ownership rights of the house and events company to his names. I have sought redress from Seeta police but nothing has yielded, they have only come here to investigate shooting that happened as I tried to open the gate,” Doreen says.
Doreen explains that the husband hired an armed security guard given orders to shoot her in case she dares stepping into the compound. She also says that the husband hired bouncers from Kireka who are instructed to ensure that children doesn’t get out of the home premises.
“He is just a stay home husband, I have been feeding him and taking care of all family responsibilities but he even doesn’t feel ashamed now to start playing tricks instead of appreciating my efforts.” She wonders.
The Namyoya LCI Chairperson Bernard Kasambu says the village efforts to access the home for negotiations failed after the security guard fired bullets in space as they attempted to knock on the gate.
Police officers from Seeta station also failed to get inside keeping them waiting for the divisional police commander to disarm the guard since the husband who hired him had also taken days without coming back home.
Denis Ouchoro says the mother to his kids took so long away from home making it hard for him to allow her access home.
He is currently seeking for conditional separation involving sharing of the woman’s properties.
