New Best Hotel-Busega: An Emerging HIV Risk Centre

‘New Best hotel-Busega’ has turned out a notable dungeon organizing sex-related parties for its clients.

Despite sharing the outlook of a decent hotel, the place attracts people of different ages to have open sex during the day and night as well as props of sex plays.

It may sound normal since the sex trade is everywhere but play parties at ‘New Best Hotel-Busega’ are often diverse and offer outlets to explore diverse desires, specifically in groups beyond couple exchange.

The Hotel, situated at the roadside, is an emerging HIV-risk environment requiring government intervention by regulating the activities.

So far this website has interacted with seven people who have claimed getting infected from the place.

Among them is Humphrey Kabogoza, a Boda boda rider at Kibuye stage who was treated to a happy ending after an arousing haircut.

“To trim your hair, you are assigned three women to work on you.  The first woman cuts off the hair as another waits to massage your head and chest. You cannot remain the same since it turns erotic. You’re then taken to another room where the third woman is ready to lure you into a quick sex play at a slight cost,” Kabogoza narrates.

He confesses going back several times to enjoy different young ladies. He says it was almost free sex but not longer, he started falling sick before deciding to visit the hospital.

“I tested positive for HIV. I only have one place where I found myself reckless and it is at Best Hotel where I had live sex,” Kabogoza recalls.

He is not alone, three other different cyclists at Busega roundabout share a similar ordeal. ‘Best Hote-Busega’ became their center of pleasure but later a collection of STIs and HIV/Aids.

The majority who visit the place claim to seek services related to Sauna, Massage, Steam bath, Kareoke but the reality is different.

To offer cheap services, the management of the Hotel transports poor and desperate girls from Rwanda with an interest in working in Kampala.

Their job description is room service, hot romps, and live sex, working in bars, massage rooms, and saunas. Each girl is paid depending on the number of clients she can handle.

“We travel to Rwanda every two weeks and come back with a new group since the old ones keep fading off. The advance between you and the lady for sex, especially on whether you have live sex is private. What we offer are the known packages,” one of the hotel attendants revealed.

The hostel is designed with a private backdoor for VIPs to avoid being noticed.

“Your financial status determines the treat, to some people we make choices for them, and for others we parade and they choose for themselves,” says another attendant.

The terrible revelation is that some of our infected sources still visit the place and other entertainment places in Kampala and attest to having unprotected sex.

The prevalence of HIV among sex workers is consistently high around the globe. The reasons for this high burden are complex, intersecting across lines of the behavioural, social, and structural realities experienced by sex workers of all genders.

Despite overall reported progress towards the ambitious 90-90-90 targets in the general population, robust evidence continues to indicate a severe unmet global need not only for HIV prevention, treatment, and care services among sex workers but also for regulation of activities within the hotel industry.
